Oil on gessoboard

As I was walking to the golf course, I noticed this set of trees along the road.  The next day I went back to do a quick study.  There are more in the whole day of golf series.  Here was the first.  What I just loved was the shadows from the trees.  I didnt have much time on this one, as I was standing in the middle of the road.  Luckly it was way up north & little traffic!  hahaha

Oddly enough, the last dog I drew was also named Sam.  So here is also Sam.  I have been doing a ton of Charcoal drawings of dogs.  Here is a gift to his owner from her mom.

If anyone is interested in a less expensive gift for Christmas or a birthday – my Mini charcoal drawings start at $500.

ashley Portrait 4inch

Oil on Canvas

This is a portrait entirely done from a photo.  I find working on a posthumous portrait and needing to work entirely from photos very challenging.  In this case Ashley was taken from us way too soon, in an accident in a snow storm a few years ago.  She loved to pose for the camera and her parents really loved the pose in this one. This said “Ashley” all over it.  With a handful of photos, and a lot of extra studio time, here is the completed painting.
